MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission has named Assistant Chief Jeffrey Norman, a 24-year veteran of the department, the acting chief once Michael Brunson retires.
The FPC’s decision for an official chief is still in limbo, but since Brunson is retiring on the 23rd and the next vote isn’t until January 7th, a move was needed.
In addition to being a longtime veteran of the force, Norman was also a candidate for the next chief.
“I am honored to serve in this role,” Norman said.
The news was learned Thursday night. Until the FPC finalizes their choice between finalists Malik Aziz and Hoyt Mahaley, Norman will be in charge.
