MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin has officially cast its 10 Electoral College votes for Democrat Joe Biden.
The state’s electors gathered Monday afternoon at the state Capitol.
“We made it,” said Governor Tony Evers after the votes were cast. “Today we did our part to continue the long and sacred tradition of our democracy of honoring the will of the people.”
The vote came about an hour after the Wisconsin Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit filed by President Trump in an effort to overturn the election results.
“While President Trump’s campaign continues to pursue legal options for Wisconsin, Republican electors met today in accordance with statutory guidelines to preserve our role in the electoral process with the final outcome still pending in the courts,” said Wisconsin GOP Chairman Andrew Hitt in a statement.
