KENOSHA- The 17-year-old from Antioch Illinois will go to trial on charges that he shot and killed two people during protest demonstrations in Kenosha back in August.
Rittenhouse’s Attorney Mark Richards argued that two of the charges against his client should be thrown out because the statute language didn’t line up with what happened on the night of August 25th.
In addition to homicide charges, Rittenhouse is also charged with use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor. The possession charge is a misdemeanor while all five others are felonies.
Despite Richards’ arguments Judge Loren Keating found that there was sufficient evidence to move forward with a trial.
Rittenhouse will arraigned over the next 30 days, at which point a trial date will be set.
