MILWAUKEE– Running for office against an incumbent is a little like running a race, but if your opponent started with a 100 yard head start.
This year’s general election is one of the most ‘challenged’ ever. 99 State Assembly seats, 16 State Senate seats, and 8 Congressional seats are up for grabs. More than 80% of those seats will include an incumbent running for reelection against a challenger.
WTMJ’s Mike Spaulding spoke with four challengers heading into election day Tuesday.
Amanda Stuck, a Democrat, is challenging 8th District Congressman, Republican Mike Gallagher. Democrat Tom Palzewicz is running against current Wisconsin Senator Scott Fitzgerald for the congressional seat left vacant by Jim Sensenbrenner. Democrat Roger Polak is running against first term incumbent Republican Brian Steil in the state’s 1st Congressional district. Republican Bonnie Lee is running against Democrat Robyn Vyning in the state’s 14th Assembly District.
