A mid-October loss to the Buccaneers isn’t a reason to panic.
That’s the message from Mark Tauscher, former Green Bay Packer and current co-host of Wilde and Tausch on ESPN Milwaukee.
“When you have a good week of work, which most weeks are, you feel good about your chances going into a game,” Tauscher said on Wisconsin’s Afternoon News.
“When you’re feeling good and 4-0, sometimes maybe the energy isn’t where it needs to be and you don’t get that crisp work, then all of a sudden that practice, it ends up catching up to you and you have a game like you saw on Sunday.”
That doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement, though. Tauscher says there’s one specific area where the team could definitely take a step in the right direction.
“From a pressure standpoint, with the exception of the Atlanta game and Za’Darius Smith and what he was able to do, it hasn’t been consistent,” Tauscher said.
“You have to win your one-on-one battles. And when you have guys who were as productive last year as both Preston and Za’Darius, you hope that you start seeing that. So that is a concern, definitely, heading into a week where you have a quarterback who is incredibly dynamic and if you let him have the time that Tom Brady had, you’re going to be in trouble,” Tauscher said.
The Packers are set to take on Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at noon.
Mark Tauscher was a guest on Wisconsin’s Afternoon News on WTMJ.
He’s the co-host of Wilde and Tausch, which airs from 9:00 a.m. – noon on 94.5-FM ESPN Milwaukee and 100.5-FM ESPN Madison.
