After a month-long decline, the average number of daily new cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin has leveled off this past week.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 537 new cases of the virus for Sunday, August 30, 2020. That is down from Saturday’s number of 819, but also coincides with the typical Sunday decline in overall tests analyzed, which was 5,099.
The seven-day average for daily new COVID-19 cases is at 696 for Sunday. The past five days has seen this number hover around 700, ending what has been a steady decline which began in late July.
The seven-day positive percentage rate for new cases has been going up in the past week. Sunday’s rate is at 8.3-percent.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 75,337 positive cases of COVID-19 tested. 7,498 are still considered active. The total number of negative tests are 1,169,302.
Deaths due to COVID-19 increased by three people Sunday. The total number killed during the pandemic is 1,122.
Current statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 is at 268, which has been on the decline in the past week.
