An 11-year-old girl has been taken off life support Thursday after being shot in the head earlier this week in Madison.
Police tell WTMJ news partner WISC-TV in Madison that Anisa Scott was shot when someone fired from another vehicle into the one she was riding in Tuesday morning. Anisa’s family chose to take her off life support Thursday morning at 11:11 a.m., with that time picked for her age and that how she was shot on the 11th of August.
Though Governor Tony Evers says that tougher gun laws in Wisconsin might not have saved Anisa’s life, he is calling for such legislation for the future.
“It talks to me about the need to make sure we have gun safety legislation in place,” the Governor said on Thursday. “We tried unsuccessfully to get that conversation going with the Republicans. Hopefully at some time in the future, we can.”
Anisa’s family and friends let a series of balloons go at 11:11 a.m. at Brittingham Park in Madison. Loved ones shared painful grieving as they prayed for her, as seen in this video below.
