A Milwaukee police officer was shot during a struggle with a suspect on the city’s north side Tuesday night.
It happened near 6th and Garfield just after 10 p.m.
The man was wanted in connection with an earlier shooting incident and started to fight with officers while being placed in a squad.
That’s when police say an officer’s weapon went off, hitting another patrolman who’s hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The injured officer is a 33-year-old male with two years of service with the Milwaukee Police Department.
An investigation continues.
