It’s one of the busiest times anyone in the trucking industry can remember.
With increased demands and fears over the coronavirus, truck drivers are still answering the call.
“We’re doing the best we can here,” said Pamela Polyak, president of Polyak Trucking. “Unfortunately, a lot of my drivers are actually from the north side [of Milwaukee] and that’s where it seems to be the strongest hit right now, so there’s a lot of people who know people who are testing positive.”
Polyak says they’re focusing primarily on grocery distribution, which means orders seem to be changing by the minute.
“Until we’re told we need to shutdown for whatever reason–and I don’t know that we ever would be told that–but if we were we’re going to keep functioning as much as we possibly can,” she said.
