A 39-year-old man is awaiting formal charges for leading law enforcement on a vehicle and foot pursuit on Milwaukee’s west side Saturday evening.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried to stop a vehicle that didn’t have a registered license plate traveling southbound on Highway 175 near West Vliet Street. The vehicle fled for about a half mile before it lost control on Alois Street near Vliet. When trying to correct itself with a U-turn, the vehicle crashed into the deputy’s vehicle.
The suspect then tried to flee on foot near Vliet and 47th Street. A Milwaukee Police officer near District Three headquarters who heard the crash pursued the suspect and took them into custody. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation before taken to the jail.
The suspect is facing the following possible charges:
– First OWI, Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer
– 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
– Resisting Obstructing an Officer
– Felon in Possession of Firearm
– Possession of Marijuana w/Intent
– Possession of MDMA
– Possession of Schedule 2 narcotic
– Department of Corrections warrant
No law enforcement officers were injured in the pursuit.
