From hiring expectations to manufacturing plans, Foxconn appears to be reconsidering their plans for a manufacturing facility in southeast Wisconsin.
As reported by Reuters News Service, Foxconn Executive Terry Gou says the company’s reconsidering manufacturing high definition television screens in Mt. Pleasant due to overhead costs. The report also says the company isn’t expected to hit a number of hiring benchmarks.
In order to receive the nearly $4 billion in tax breaks, the company was to have hired 5,200 employees by the end of 2020, however according to the Reuters report, the expectations are now closer to 1,000 by the end of 2020.
Gou adding that roughly 75% of the nearly 13,000 jobs promised would be in research and development, not in the manufacturing sector as previously believed.
