In 2011, Robin Greenfield was living a ‘pretty typical lifestyle’ in San Diego, California. He was focused on material possessions and financial wealth, even working towards the goal of becoming a millionaire by the time he was 30.
But as Greenfield started to watch documentaries and read books, he learned that “this American dream is actually the world’s worst nightmare, that the way we’re living of this extreme consumerism is causing so much harm. And [he] was a part of it.”
From the food he was eating, to the car he was driving, and the trash he was creating, Greenfield decided he was going to transform his life to do something that seems radical: “not destroy the Earth and live in harmony.”
After spending 15 years traveling, the Wisconsin native has recently moved back to his hometown of Ashland and doubled down on living his values.
One way Greenfield accomplishes this: foraging his food. He recently joined Wisconsin’s Midday News to share how he does it.
“It’s not just about trying to live sustainably. It’s about really finding a deep level of meaning and purpose, happiness and health.”
