The Packers most recent head coach is taking a gap year between jobs.
Tom Pelissero with NFL.com reports Mike McCarthy informed his family that he will not take any coaching positions during the upcoming 2019 season.
With the #Jets job off the table, Mike McCarthy told me he’s sitting out this season — and his wife and kids started cheering at dinner when he told them. “Family excited about dad at home for 2019. That’s all that matters as we both know.” He’ll prepare and be ready for 2020.

The decision comes as the only team to have taken interest in McCarthy, the Jets, have reportedly decided to hire former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase to fill their head coach vacancy.
McCarthy went 125-77-2 with the Packers between 2006 and 2018. He was fired with four games left in the 2018 season after a lost to the Cardinals at Lambeau Field resulted in a record of 4-7-1.
