Additionally, Alliant Energy says about another 8,000 customers were without power at that time.

Thousands of people lost power Monday during a series of storms that led to tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the afternoon.
We Energies says that about 11,700 customers had lost power as of 4:34 p.m.
