Enjoying Wisconsin state parks, forests, trails and recreation areas is a bargain any time of year but on the first full weekend in June they are an exceptional value, as entrance to any state property is free. No admission stickers are required on vehicles and trail passes are not required for activities ranging from bicycling to horseback riding on state trails.Â

Hiking: Amnicon Falls State Park
Amnicon Falls State Park offers nearly two miles of hiking trails along the river, showcasing Wisconsin's rich geologic and natural scenery.
- Along with the prehistoric rock formations, you can see evidence of an ancient ocean that once covered Wisconsin millions of years ago, as well as volcanic material. The scenic River Trail uncovers mini-pools, cascades and waterfalls.
- While hiking on the trails, be sure to view the river from the historic Horton Bridge, a covered bridge located at the Lower Falls, which takes hikers to the Island.
- Find a selfie stand located just downstream from the covered bridge and lower falls for a great group photo. Share yours on Instagram using #ScenicWisconsin.Â
Swimming and Fishing: Big Foot Beach State Park
Big Foot Beach State Park, right on Lake Geneva, spans just over 270 acres with campsites wooded by tall oaks and a sandy beach with a 100-foot swimming area.
- The water in Lake Geneva is among Wisconsin's finest, as it is extremely clean, making for an ideal place to swim.
- The park has a lagoon for great fishing, perfect for Free Fishing Weekend, which allows fishing anywhere in Wisconsin without a trout stamp or license.
- Free fishing equipment for loan at more than 50 sites, DNR offices, and partner organizations.
- Personal watercraft and motor boats are available for rent from a local vendor just south of the park entrance.
- Find a selfie stand located just off of the paved path about 30 feet from Ceylon Lagoon looking over Geneva Lake and stop for a fun photo.

Camping: Perrot State Park
More than 1,200 acres of land surrounded by bluffs, where the Mississippi and Trempealeau Rivers meet, is the perfect setting to set up camp at Perrot State Park.
- The park offers activities including hiking, biking and canoeing. Make sure to hike on Brady's Bluff to catch some of the most spectacular views of the Mississippi River and Trempealeau Mountain.
- You can also canoe in the calm waters of Trempealeau Bay– perfect for first-time canoers.
- Get your perfect selfie at the selfie stand located on the boardwalk overlooking Trempealeau Bay.Â
- Additionally, in the area outside the park you will find access to the Great River State Trail, which spans 24 miles, winding its way through the park.
