For the first time in 36 years, a Milwaukee Buck has been named the NBA’s best defensive player.
Current NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has added the title of 2019-20 Defensive Player of the Year to his resume.

Besides his 29.5 points per contest, Antetokounmpo snagged 13.6 rebounds, blocked 1.0 shots and grabbed 1.0 steals per contest.
He also led the NBA in defensive rebounds and defensive rating at 97.1, per Basketball Reference.
Antetokounmpo is the first Buck since Sidney Moncrief in 1983-84 to win the award. Moncrief won the first two times the award was bestowed.
