WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News defines an EVERYDAY HERO as “an average Jon/Jane Doe who, when they woke up one morning, had no idea they’d be saving a life.”
In Lehi, Utah: Crossing guard Tara Sandstrom was on her regular shift when she ran in front of a vehicle in order to prevent students from being hit.
“I turned around to watch this lane of traffic. I looked forward, and then I looked, and the vehicle started to proceed through. And then I ran forward, stepping in front of those children,” she told ABC4.com.
The students were not hurt.
“I have never second-guessed my reactions to putting myself in front of a moving vehicle for one of these children. And I would do it again and again if I have to,” she said.
