MILWAUKEE — “Direct Admit” Wisconsin admits high school students to University of Wisconsin Schools without them having to fill out an application.
More than 40,000 students across the state received automatic college admissions offers from UW schools this year, 15,000 in the Milwaukee area.
To participate, students only need to fill out a form, which does not commit them to attending a UW school. The students are evaluated on the individual acceptance criteria for each university.
“Receiving an early admission offer builds confidence and celebrates the academic accomplishments of our MPS students. The offer sends a powerful message. You belong in college and your future is full of possibilities,” says MPS Superintendent Dr. Brenda Casselius.
This is the third year of the program. High schools, both public and private, can still join the program until the end of the month for the next academic school year.
Over 500 out of 800 high schools in Wisconsin currently participate. UW officials say there is no cap on the program, and they hope to offer admission to as many students as possible.
