PEWAUKEE, Wis.— A 23-year-old woman is dead after a wrong-way crash on Highway 16 in Waukesha County Sunday night.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 10:14 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 16 in Pewaukee, west of Ryan Street.
Investigators say the woman was driving east in the westbound lanes when her vehicle collided head-on with two other vehicles.
She was the only person in her vehicle and died at the scene.
People in the other two vehicles were hurt, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Highway 16 was closed for about six hours as the Wisconsin State Patrol reconstructed the crash and crews cleared the scene.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating what led to the crash.
