TOWN OF GRAFTON, Wis. — A driver wanted in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured an 11-year-old boy in the Town of Grafton was arrested in Illinois on Saturday.
David Sitar, 37, allegedly hit an 11-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle near Arrowhead Road and Port Washington Road at 6:36 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, he fled the scene shortly after the crash.
Deputies later found the van involved in the crash without Sitar and issued felony warrants against him for first-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run causing injury and driving without a license. Sitar also had an active warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for probation violation.
Sitar was located and taken into custody in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois at 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 3.
The 11-year-old boy remains hospitalized in critical condition as of Friday.
