MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. — Three cities in Milwaukee County are launching temporary traffic safety projects for research purposes.
South Milwaukee will use new blinker signs, in addition to barrels and cones, to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of 11th and Milwaukee Avenues.
Wauwatosa will use two new Near-Miss Detection cameras to conduct a study along Burleigh Street and North Avenue.
West Allis will install two movable speed humps on Rita Drive between 52nd and 57th Streets. They will also conduct a near-miss study.
“We must work together to make deliberate, data-driven decisions to save lives and reduce crashes on our roadways,” says County Executive David Crowley.
The County says Vision Zero is working to eliminate traffic fatalities in Milwaukee by 2037.
The work is funded by a nearly $220,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
