KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — A child will not face charges after bringing a toy foam dart blaster to school in Kenosha County.
Salem School District‘s School Resource Officer Deputy Dominguez responded on September 16 after being made aware that an 11-year-old student brought the item to school and was showing it to other students.
School administrators responded after becoming aware of the item, secured and assessed the item, ultimately determining that it was indeed a toy and not a firearm.
The student did not make any threats and had no bad intentions. School officials say that there was no danger to students or staff, and that the school was not put into a school-wide alert, so there was minimal disruption to the school day.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s office was made aware of the incident, and no criminal charges will be filed.
School officials and sheriff’s deputies reminded parents and guardians that children should not bring toys or replica weapons to school.
