UPDATE at 2:30 p.m. on 8/28/2026: The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner identifies the man who died in the drive-by shooting as 39-year-old Michael T. Jackson of Milwaukee.
His death was ruled a homicide.
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police are investigating after a drive-by double shooting leaves one person dead in Milwaukee’s Midtown neighborhood.
Police responded around 3:43 a.m. near N. 26th Street and W. Walnut Avenue.
Investigators say a suspect in a car allegedly fired multiple shots at two victims, hitting them.
A 39 year old died from their gunshot wounds at the scene, while a 33 year old was taken to the hospital for their injuries.
The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
