MILWAUKEE — Newly installed “smart switches” are helping We Energies customers gain power after outages almost immediately.
The company has installed over 700 across the electrical grid, which they say means over 30,000 customers have experienced automatic power restoration.
“All we can do is focus on making sure we’re as proactive and prepared as possible,” says Brendan Conway. “We are making investments in the reliability, we’re making investments in the grid because we know our customers care a lot about making sure power stays on.”
We Energies estimates that 2.7 million minutes of power outages have been prevented this year due to the equipment.
Conway says if you see crews out installing the switches, give them space, stay behind cones, and be patient.
