MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Cleanup efforts are underway across Southeast Wisconsin after strong storms Tuesday night knocked down trees and power lines and left thousands of people without power.
As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, more than 16,000 We Energies customers were in the dark — more than 12,000 of those in Milwaukee County.
Milwaukee Department of Public Works crews spent Tuesday night clearing fallen trees and debris from streets.
The National Weather Service says survey crews will be out Wednesday to assess the damage.
