MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Public Schools will host two community meetings next week to update families on plans for students following the fire that destroyed Lincoln Avenue School.
The district will present its plan for the upcoming school year and answer questions from families and community members during meetings on Monday, July 13, at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m.
Both meetings will be held at the Don & Sallie Davis Boys & Girls Club at Rogers Street Academy, located at 2404 W. Rogers St. Spanish interpreters will be available, and the meetings will also be livestreamed.
MPS officials say they have remained in regular contact with families and staff since the June 30 five-alarm fire that destroyed the nearly 110-year-old school. District leaders have already met with the school’s engagement council and staff and are scheduled to meet with families this week.
The district says its goal is to keep the entire Lincoln Avenue School community together, with all students in K3 through fifth grade attending classes at a single location for the 2026-27 school year.
Earlier this week, the Milwaukee Historic Preservation Commission approved demolition of the heavily damaged building, clearing the way for its eventual removal.
Lincoln Avenue School, located at 1817 W. Lincoln Ave., had served Milwaukee students since 1917.
