MILWAUKEE– The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office has released new details on the man found dead on the highway early Wednesday morning.
Authorities found the 44-year-old lying in traffic under the MLK Drive Bridge near the Capitol Drive off-ramp to I-43 north around 12:04 a.m.
The man was likely standing near the roadway when he was hit by a box truck coming around the turn.
The truck’s driver stayed on scene and no charges have been filed.
The crash remains under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest the man was walking in the darkened roadway when he was struck, and the truck driver was unable to avoid him.
