REEDLEY, Cal. — Moonlight Companies is voluntarily recalling its California-grown peaches over possible Listeria contamination.
The recall affects yellow, white and “peppermint” peaches sold under Moonlight Companies or Kroger branding at retail stores nationwide. They were sold individually with PLU stickers or in multi-packs between Sept. 16 and Oct. 29.

Packages or stickers with the words “Washington” and/or “Organic” are not included in the recall.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Listeria monocytogenes was identified in the peaches’ packing facility environment.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection to this recall.
