MILWAUKEE- A third man has been sentenced to prison over the shooting death of a 9-year-old girl in Milwaukee in 2016.
Za’layia Jenkins was killed in May of 2016 after a bullet fired from outside, flew through her living room wall and struck her. Jenkins was one day shy of turning 10 years old.
On Friday, 37-year-old Ortha Brown was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 20 years extended supervision for his role in her death. He was found guilty of first degree reckless homicide in June.
Brown is the 3rd person charged in Jenkins’ death. In 2018, Tony Powell Jr. was sentenced to 41 years in prison and later that same year Damonta Jennings was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
