UPDATE December 31: The City of Milwaukee DPW announcing the Snow Emergency will continue for a second straight night. ORIGINAL POST:
A reminder that the City of Milwaukee has declared a Snow Emergency for Wednesday night.
Starting at 10 p.m., no parking will be allowed on primary roadways through 6 a.m. A list of those streets can be found here.
For side streets, vehicles can still park there but must be on the even numbered side of the street by 10 p.m. If there is a sign that prohibits or restricts parking on a street, that must be followed. Any vehicles parked legally on the street must also be flush to the curb and out of the flow of traffic.
For those who may need a parking spot for the night, select Milwaukee Public School building parking lots are available. They must be moved out 7 a.m. Thursday. A list of parking lots can be found here.
All this is to ensure the city’s Department of Public Works can do as best of a job as possible clearing away Tuesday night’s snowfall. The National Weather Service says the city saw around 5 inches of accumulation.
Anyone who is found not to follow proper parking rules will face a fine. First offense fines are $50, second offense fines are $100, and every additional offense fine is $150, with vehicles eligible for towing.
