Update: 2:20 p.m.
The Racine County Sheriff says that authorities had to shut down I-94 only for a short time Thursday morning in order to turn over the vehicle which was leaking the ammonia gas.
The incident began at 8:22 a.m. when the vehicle, a pickup truck, was hauling a 560 gallon tanker trailer. It was going south on Sylvania Avenue south of Highway 11 in Yorkville. At that point, the trailer hitch broke off, and the tanker trailer turned onto it side.
Hazmat teams came to the scene and saw there was no risk to others, but the trailer had to be placed upright, leading to the closures.
Update: 12:13 p.m.
