Road construction season is not slowing down yet. Several new projects get underway this week.
One project is maintenance work on I-43 in Ozaukee County. It will cause a lane closure during daytime hours, weather pending. The scheduled closings include:
Monday, October 28:
– The right lane of northbound traffic just south of Mequon Road.
– The right lane of northbound traffic just south of State Highway 32.
– The northbound off-ramp to State Highway 32.
Tuesday, October 29:
– The right lane of southbound traffic at State Highway 32.
– The right lane of southbound traffic a half-mile north of Mequon Road.
Another project starting Monday will be repairs to the Canadian National railroad crossing on State Highway 33 in Allenton in Washington County. It will require a full closure of all lanes of traffic.
Traffic on the highway will be detoured using I-41, County Road K and State Highway 175. Work is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, November 2.
The final project getting underway this week will be the complete replacement of the 68th Street Bridge over I-894 in Greenfield.
Traffic on the bridge will be blocked off, while access to businesses and residences along 68th will remain open. The official detour will take traffic to 76th Street using Layton Avenue and Cold Spring Road.
There will also be a few, intermittent overnight full freeway closures of I-894 to help with the demolition of the bridge, the placement of girders and deck pouring.
The $3.3-million project is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2020.
