Performing at Summerfest for a born-and-raised Milwaukee music artist can often be seen as a rite of passage, and the ultimate validation for the hard work you’ve put into your craft.
For Shle Berry, her dream is about to take another step as she gets ready to make her debut at Summerfest ’19.
Berry, 27, has built up an award-winning resume for her hip-hop work. Her unique ability to merge rapping with singing has provided Shle a musical lane of her own to travel, but expressing herself on the mic is only part of Shle Berry’s story.
She feels there’s a great deal of social responsibility that comes with being an artist.
“I do feel like I can be a voice for people who feel they don’t have one. This social responsibility weighs really heavy on me, and if I don’t try to do something good with it, then why am I even doing it all?” Berry said.
She will be performing on July 6 at 5:45 p.m. at the Klement’s Sausage & Beer Garden Stage.
