MILWAUKEE- Learning to code doesn’t need to take 4 years of schooling or time at an expensive university.
Making good on the idea of creating a 21st Century trade school, DevCode Camp in downtown Milwaukee’s entering its fourth year of operation in turning curious coders into hirable computer programmers.
“They don’t have to go out to the west coast or the east coast to get this kind of training,” DevCode Vice President of Operations Paul Jirovitz says.
In four years Jirovitz says they’ve helped more than two-hundred of the programs graduates find work at companies like Northwestern Mutual, Rockwell Automation, and Aurora Healthcare, “We’ve put a couple hundred developers out there that are working at some major companies in Milwaukee.
This year’s class, which is run out of a 2nd story loft in the Pritzlaf building in downtown Milwaukee, has more than 50 participants who show up Monday through Friday for eight plus hours per day in hopes of learning a skill that will get them into the workforce.
