A road rage incident is being blamed for the closure of all lanes of I-43 Northbound in downtown Milwaukee Friday afternoon, right in the middle of the end of work week commute.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 3:20 p.m. near Walnut Street. They got word of people hearing shots being fired around the interstate.
Once deputies arrived, they help to transport two people to an area hospital for treatment of non-fatal gunshot wounds.
They closed off the freeway to search for bullet casings and other pieces of evidence. That forced traffic off the interstate and the closure of nearby on ramps. it was reopened just after 6 p.m.
An investigation continues.
