MILWAUKEE — WTMJ listeners stepped up to provide a total of 7,621 turkeys to the Hunger Task Force to help those in need during this Thanksgiving.
The amount raised during the WTMJ Cares campaign totaled $114,315.
“I think initially we were looking at 2,000 maybe 2,500 [turkeys] as a goal, and the team blew it out of the water,” said Hunger Task Force Communications Manager Sarah Kikkert. “Hunger Task Force is beyond pleased with the results of the campaign and just blown away by the sheer amount of people who stepped up to help feed Milwaukee families this holiday season.”
With the amount of turkeys donated, Kikkert says they’ll be able to help those in need beyond just Thanksgiving.
“We’ll be able to provide turkeys into the month of December and for several other holidays that many of our recipients celebrate for the rest of the holiday season,” she said.
