MILWAUKEE— The sudden death of South Dakota State football player Nate White has officially been ruled by natural causes.
White, a 20-year old running back and Milwaukee native, was found unresponsive in his apartment by a roommate at about 6:44 a.m. on June 25. Authorities say the former Rufus King High School star died from a medical event that disrupted his breathing and heart function. The Brookings Police Department confirmed this week that no foul play was involved.
White had recently transferred to South Dakota State after spending two seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers. He played for Wisconsin in 2023 and 2024, while transferring to SDSU in January.
A balloon release was held for the former star at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee on July 2nd, 2025.
