The attorney for Sterling Brown says there is no official offer from the City of Milwaukee regarding a settlement between the city and his client over a lawsuit regarding his arrest back in January 2018.
Mark Thomsen spoke outside Milwaukee City Hall May 31, 2019, responding to reports made earlier in the day to a letter from a city deputy attorney, asking the Common Council to approve $400,000 for a settlement.

Thomsen says Brown had not read the letter, and that he had only heard about it hours earlier.
In regard to a possible settlement, Thomsen says there have been no discussions with the City Attorney’s Office regarding one, and that any details on one will have to wait until one is approved by the city.
The $400,000 would need to be approved by a city committee before the Common Council would have a chance to vote on it. The earliest that would take place is at their next meeting June 10.
