Jacob Blake, the man who was shot in the back by a Kenosha police officer on August 23, is pleading not guilty to charges of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Blake and his lawyer appeared via Zoom for the Kenosha County Court hearing on Friday.
He’s facing one felony charge of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault as well as two misdemeanor counts of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass to Dwelling. All three charges come with Domestic Abuse modifiers.
A judge on Friday found probable cause to move the case forward and issued a $10,000 signature bond for Blake.
A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for October 21, 2020. Jury selection has been scheduled for November 9, 2020.
According to court documents, a warrant for Blake’s arrest in the case was issued on July 7, 2020.
The Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office says the warrant was still active during the August 23 encounter when Blake was shot seven times in the back by a police officer.
The shooting led to several nights of unrest in Kenosha, during which more than a dozen businesses were set on fire and two people were shot and killed.
