A 37-year-old man has died after a shooting involving three Waukesha County Sheriff’s deputies.
Scott Kontowicz passed away after the incident. It happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday night in the Village of Waukesha.
Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call about Kontowicz, according to a department spokesperson. The caller said he had a rifle and had poured gasoline on himself.
Officers came to the home and found Kontowicz outside when the shooting happened. There was no initial word from the sheriff’s department on which of the three deputies shot Kontowicz.
Deputies attempted to save Kontowicz’s life. An ambulance took him to a hospital in the area, but he passed away there. None of the three deputies were hurt.
The City of Waukesha Police Department will investigate the incident.
