On the weekend of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Golf Classic and Gala, the Green Bay Packers announce they will host a weekend honoring fallen Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr and will donate $250,000 to four charities he supported including the VLCF.
The Packers say they will take the entire season to honor Starr with a No.15 decal on the helmets of their uniform for the entire 101st season of Packers football.
They will also host three events during the first home weekend of the campaign:
– Fri. Sept. 13: The Green and Gold Gala for Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin
– Sat. Sept. 14: A public celebration of Starr’s life at Rawhide in New London, Wis.
– Sun. Sept. 15: A halftime ceremony and remembrance of Starr’s life during the Packers-Minnesota Vikings game at Lambeau Field.
The Packers are giving a $250,000 grant to the Bart & Cherry Starr Foundation, which will be distributed to four charities:
– The Starr Pediatric Cancer Fund, part of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation which Starr started in 1971
– Rawhide
– Cornerstone Schools of Alabama
– The Birmingham Humane Society
