MILWAUKEE – Two young pitching phenoms will go head-to-head for the first time at American Family Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Pirates ace Paul Skenes vs. Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski.

“I’m sure a lot of people will be excited (about the match-up),” manager Pat Murphy told WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News on Tuesday. “I hope a bunch of people come out to support the Brewers.”
Murphy believes his young starter can learn a few things from Skenes.
“A guy like Skenes is consistently dominant,” the skipper explained. “He’s a good model for Miz to follow. The way he trains, etc. He’s focused.”
Murphy shared a story about how Skenes (as a rookie) sought out Bob Uecker during a visit to AmFam Field last year.
“I thought it was classy,” he said. “I hope our guy can show that type of poise.”
Even with all the attention surrounding Wednesday’s game, Murph told WTMJ the match-up didn’t happen in order to sell tickets.
“We’re not pairing Miz and Skenes together to get a ‘big gate.'”

Misiorowski has been stellar in his first two starts, beginning his MLB career with 11 hitless innings (and sending his hat to the Baseball Hall of Fame). Despite his early success, the 6’7″ rookie’s demeanor hasn’t changed, according to the manager.
“Miz is who he is,” Murphy said. “Happy go lucky. Smile on his face.”
Tonight is night 2 of The Miz!
