CHICAGO – When Lou Farinella saw Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick’s bat fly into the netting near the visitor’s dugout at Wrigley Field on Thursday, he know he had to try for it.

“At first I thought I could reach it just by standing on the wall,” Farinella explained to WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News. “When I couldn’t reach it, I could hear the crowd start to jeer. I’m committed at this point. I gotta get this thing no matter what.”
Therefore Farinella climbed up the netting to retrieve the bat.
“What’s the difference between a bat and a foul ball?” he asked.
Remember the fan that climbed the net to get Sal Frelick's bat at Wrigley Field?

Security would come and retrieve the bat. Farinella was also escorted from his seat before he was able to return to a hero’s welcome.
“My pact in life is: Be super nice to people and usually good things happen,” he reasoned for why he was allowed back to his seat.
But no bat.
The next time Frelick was on-deck, Farinella told the outfielder he no longer had the bat.
“He said to me ‘What? They took it from you? I got you, bro, I got you.'” Farinella recalled.
When the game ended (and the Brewers won), Frelick presented the Cubs fan an autographed bat.
“I have many Wisconsin buddies giving me grief saying now I have to be a Brewers fan.”
