CHICAGO – The Brewers’ chances of making the MLB post-season sit at 42.9%, per Baseball Reference, and manager Pat Murphy likes those odds.
“I like that,” Murphy told WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News on Tuesday. “I grew up betting horses with my dad. 42 is a horse that is 8-to-1. That pays $18.40 for a $2 bet.”
Needless to say, Murph isn’t worried about percentages.
“42 is a great number” he said. “That’s Jackie Robinson’s number.”

The Brewers head to Chicago Tuesday night for a big series with the first place Cubs. It’ll be hot and humid, and the manager’s ok with that.
“When it gets warmer the ball travels better,” he explained. “Players like it (too).”
An 8-to-1 horse.

Rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski was schedule to pitch Wednesday.
“(Miz) is pretty unique. A great kid,” the skipper said. “You’re always concerned about the second start. You hope he can get grounded quickly. Every move he makes is being monitored by the staff. There’s a lot coming at the kid. But there are a lot of people keeping him on track.”
The 6’7″ rookie reminds Murphy of Jack McDowell.
