Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley is pushing back against questions surrounding Milwaukee County funding for a nonprofit that employs his wife, calling the controversy a distraction as Wisconsin’s race for governor enters its final weeks.
Crowley joined Point Taken Overtime with roughly 20 days remaining before Election Day to discuss the Community Advocates controversy, artificial intelligence, data centers, immigration and several other issues shaping his race against Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany.
Tiffany’s campaign has seized on reporting that Milwaukee County distributed more than $65 million in federal rental assistance through Community Advocates while Crowley served as county executive. Crowley’s wife, Ericka Crowley, works for the Milwaukee nonprofit.
“We’ve shown that we can lead,” Crowley said. “We have shown that we can govern.”
