MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial field is down to five candidates as Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley ends his campaign.
In a statement July 8, Crowley said it had “become clear” he would not be the Democratic nominee, and that he is focusing instead on his position as County Executive.

His decision follows a one million dollar ad buy this week from lieutenant governor and gubernatorial candidate Sara Rodriguez. Crowley did not offer an endorsement in his withdrawal statement.
The remaining Democratic candidates include assemblywoman Francesca Hong, former lieutenant governor Mandela Barnes, current lieutenant governor Sara Rodriguez, state senator Kelda Roys, and former Greater Milwaukee Committee president Joel Brennan. On the Republican side, Congressman Tom Tiffany and Milwaukee medical services technician Andy Manske are the two qualified candidates.
This is a breaking news story; more information will be added as it becomes available.
