WEST ALLIS, Wis.— A 31-year-old man is hospitalized after a West Allis police officer shot him during a home visit Tuesday night.
West Allis police say officers and Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation and parole agents were conducting routine visits to people under community supervision around 9:20 p.m. October 27.
Authorities say they encountered an armed man at a home near 71st and Grant. A West Allis officer fired a gun, striking the man.
Officers provided medical aid before the West Allis Fire Department took him to a local hospital. No officers, probation and parole agents or other members of the public were injured.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative duty.
The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is investigating, with the City of Waukesha Police Department serving as the lead investigate agency.
