MILWAUKEE— A 15-year-old Bradley Tech High School student was confronted with a gun during school dismissal Monday afternoon, according to Milwaukee Police.
The incident happened around 3:42 p.m., right after school dismissal. Milwaukee Police say unknown suspect or suspects pointed a firearm at the student and pushed him. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
Bradley Tech said the student was offered medical assistance but declined. after the incident, students were brought back inside while Milwaukee police school resource officers responded and searched for the suspect. Dismissal resumed a short time later with officers remaining on scene.
Bradley Tech says the person involved is not a student at the school.
Bradley Tech and Milwaukee Public Schools sent out a statement to families:
Dear Bradley Tech Families and Staff,
We value you as members of our school community, and we want to keep you informed.
Today after the school day ended, one of our students was hit with what appeared to be the handle of a gun on a sidewalk outside the building by a person not related to our school community. We immediately called all remaining students back indoors. Our Milwaukee Police Department school resource officers (SROs) arrived quickly to control the situation and work to find the suspect who left the scene. The student was offered medical help but declined. After a short time, dismissal resumed with the SROs present. They are investigating. We will continue to take appropriate action to ensure Bradley Tech continues to be a safe and welcoming school community.
