(Update at 4:40 p.m. on 9/30/26) OSCEOLA, Wis. — An update from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says a total of nine people were treated at the hospital on Wednesday morning for suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
The ninth individual is a 16-year-old. All nine people have been treated and released.
Investigators say the carbon monoxide came from a malfunctioning boiler unit in the home while the homeowner was trying to repair it.
The sheriff’s office is reminding residents to check CO2 and smoke detectors heading into the colder months.
OSCEOLA, Wis. — Eight people, including six children, were taken to hospitals early Wednesday morning after a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a Fond du Lac County home.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner on County Road B in the Town of Osceola called 911 around 2:05 a.m. to report multiple people experiencing symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning.
Six children — ages 4, 7, 9, 12, 14 and 17 — were taken to by ambulance to local hospitals with severe symptoms. A 46-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were also hospitalized.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says the incident remains under investigation.
