President Donald Trump is promising a $5,000 payment to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans maintain control of both the House and Senate in the 2026 midterm elections.
Speaking at the Republican midterms convention in Dallas, Trump said the proposed “dividend” would come as a result of what he described as the country’s economic success.
The question now is whether Trump continues making the $5,000 pledge throughout the fall — and whether Republican candidates in competitive races embrace it as part of their own campaign message.
